After graduating from Baylor University in 1968, he joined the U.S. Navy. He spent a total of 9 years in the Navy flying single seat, supersonic, jet fighters. He flew 87 missions from the deck of the USS Oriskany during the Viet Nam War, and accumulation almost 200 carrier landings.After leaving the Navy in 1977, he started his career in commercial real estate. He was a broker in San Diego, Ca. for almost 4 years, and then spent almost 11 years as a broker and manager in Albuquerque, NM. For 8 of those years he managed the largest commercial firm in the state- 45 sales people. He also worked for 3 years on Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credit properties.He then spent 5 years in the wholesale sporting goods business managing a sales staff which sold approximately half a million dollars a day to retail stores all across the country.Then in 1996 he started his 20 year career in teaching Income Property Analysis. Since 1996 the Chip has conducted over850 seminars, in 30 different venues, in 9 different states, for over 17,500 students. He is an acknowledged expert on analyzing "the numbers" on investment real estate.
